qemu-kvm used to support tightvnc protocol when its display is in vnc mode. Now, when I try to connect with a client that supports tightvnc, qemu-kvm spews garbage to the client, and then qemu-kvm crashes. If I disable tightvnc support in the client, it works fine, although in another client, it now displays all the colors reversed. This is a regression from a few revisions ago. I'd report it upstream, but IIRC, they don't like direct bug reports on distro packages. Reproducible: Always $ emerge --info qemu-kvm Portage 2.1.9.24 (default/linux/amd64/10.0, gcc-4.4.5, glibc-2.12.1-r3, 2.6.35-gentoo-r5 x86_64) Hi, I'm probably the one who broke that :/. Could you try to reproduce that with an upstream version (from git) and fill a bug upstream (please CC me). Thanks,
You can use qemu-kvm-9999 if you want to track the git tree.
Thanks for responding here, Corentin. Tim, can you try to reproduce this with qemu-kvm-9999, which is just a build of the current git?
I'm using JollysFastVNC as my client, and one of the enhancements to the last update involved something to do with supporting QEWU's "special" tight encodings. Now it works fine. Does QEMU have some non-standard encoding that had to be adapted to?
You can lean more on this page: http://wiki.qemu.org/Google_Summer_of_Code_2010/VNC Note par ZRLE/ZYRLE patchs are not available yet upstream, but are on http://git.iksaif.net/?p=qemu.git;a=shortlog;h=refs/heads/wip But all of these encodings are only enabled if the client tells that it support them.
Sounds like we have a resolution for this. Thanks for the help all.
