Description Cyprien Nicolas (fulax) 2010-11-05 22:49:36 UTC
Hi,

cone gets linked to the aspell dictionnary if aspell is installed on the system, whatever the spell USE is set or not. The USE only triggers a DEPEND on app-text/aspell

mail-client/cone-0.79 was built with the following:
USE="crypt -fam -spell"

spiti ~ # readelf -d /usr/libexec/cone | grep aspell
 0x00000001 (NEEDED) Shared library: [libaspell.so.15]

spiti ~ # emerge --info --ignore-default-opts mail-client/cone

AFAICS, there is no option (in ${S}/cone/configure) to disable spell checking, ./configure disables it iff no aspell nor pspell is available.
Comment 1 Cyprien Nicolas (fulax) 2010-11-05 23:22:29 UTC
BTW, it also gets linked against libldap and libncursesw, a RDEPEND against >=sys-libs/ncurses-5.2 should be sufficient for the latter.

${S}/ldapaddressbook/configure --help reported that --without-ldapaddressbook exists

so econf $(use_with ldap ldapaddressbook) should be enough

automagic dependency on aspell?

These are already added to the latest cone ebuild so I'd rather get it marked stable and drop the old version since there are several other fixes I don't want to backport to the old version.

In addition, I can reproduce the aspell automagic bug with the latest version so it will need to patched.

Comment 4 Tim Harder gentoo-dev 2010-11-12 08:56:48 UTC
I've added a patch to fix this issue for the most recent version of cone in the tree.

I think I'll close this bug since I'd rather get the new version stabilized and drop the old one instead of maintaining the old version.

Please update to the latest version or wait for it to be stabilized in bug #345187.

I didn't checked the last recent ebuild. I noticed it when trying to remove all spell/ldap related packages from my (now) server box. Thanks to preserved-libs features ;-)

Yes, I agree. Thank you very much :)
