Description Guy Martin (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-11-01 08:33:02 UTC
Bug #331119 states that the patch is there but it isn't :-/

Please add the patch 1509_all_glibc-2.11-hppa-SOCK_CLOEXEC.patch from 2.11.2 patchset to 2.12.1.
Comment 1 Diego Elio Pettenò (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-11-01 18:42:17 UTC
Looks like Mike queued it on his system but not on the CVS, so when I revbumped them for security I couldn't pick those up. Sorry to say but you're gonna have to wait for patchset 6

glibc-2.12 doesnt support ports

a better question though is why exactly are you adding/bumping patches that i specifically declined and upstream did not merge and you did not query toolchain@g.o about ?

i see no reason whatsoever for glibc-2.12.2-r3 or glibc-2.11.2-r3 to exist. i'm punting the ORIGIN patch, and the DST fix has no security implications that i'm aware of.
Comment 3 Diego Elio Pettenò (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-11-09 13:13:44 UTC
There _are_ security implications. Security gets priority over what you'd like to see in or not.
Comment 4 Tobias Heinlein (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-11-09 13:26:54 UTC
Mike, please note that this isn't Diego's fault. Please see bug 341755 again. We had a long talk on IRC in #-security and taviso confirmed that there *are* security implications. Also, upstream already merged the patch. So please keep them.
Comment 5 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2010-11-09 23:22:07 UTC
this bug is about glibc-2.12 missing ports patches. which is invalid. use the existing security bug. and no, you guys have not provided any actual information to show the patch is necessary and so no, you should not have added it to -r3. nor have you mentioned why you added the dst patch.
Comment 6 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-11-10 13:49:27 UTC
OK, let's try again. HPPA needs a fairly simple patch to run a stable system. The patch is in the 2.11 Gentoo patchset but not in 2.12. That needs to be fixed or we won't be running 2.12 on HPPA any time soon. There /is/ a bug with 2.12 that needs to be fixed (maybe through upstream, who cares as long as it doesn't take years) before this report can be closed.

Everyone else remove yourselves from this bug.
Comment 7 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2010-11-10 21:45:40 UTC
what exactly are you getting ? glibc-2.12 *has no ports tarball*. thus it *has no hppa keyword*. thus it is literally impossible for us to patch files *that dont exist*.
