Description Pablo Cholaky 2010-10-31 22:41:26 UTC
Ok, Arial and Times new Roman can be linked with liberation fonts, but not Verdana.

Arkpandora should have an alias of Arial, Times New Roman And Verdana, is just an idea, i know, DejaVu is a good alternative... but i havent an option on fontconfig.

Of course... corefonts isnt a option ;)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Go to a website using Verdana (added on this bug URL) without corefonts
2.Look the website
3.Enjoy the ugly font

Actual Results:
Ugly fonts

Expected Results:
See a fine, cool, lovely font

Maybe im a bit exagerated with that, i know, but i just love the fontconfig uses on liberation fonts, and i would love it for Verdana too

The so-called 'ugly font' is chosen by your web browser. It is either one of the fallback fonts specified by site author (in which case all you can do is complaining to the author or disabling the fallback in your browser) or the fallback font set in your browser (in which case you should change that in your browser config).

In any case, fontconfig is not a tool to workaround browsers.

My best solution was "eselect fontconfig enable 70-no-bitmaps.conf" :/

So... are you saying... just forget alternatives? Install corefonts or survive a bit with dejavu and liberation fonts a bit? (liberation fonts not always work :/ works great on Abiword, not always on browsers)

Thanks
