When running opengl programs like glxgears or bzflag, performance is very poor and after some seconds the whole system locks hard. At that time the only thing that works is mousemovements on the screen, but nothing else. Even the keyboard is completely dead: <Ctrl><Alt><Back> and <Ctrl><Alt><Fn> do not work and the keyleds are not changeable (=> kernel dead?). xfree-4.3.0-r3 xfree-drm-4.3.0-r6 Strange: Using 'Option "UseCCEFor2D" "True"' in /etc/X11/XF86Config made glxgears run 4 times faster than normal and bzflag crash after twice the normal time. Still, the crash is inevitable. Some setup information: dmesg: Linux version 2.4.22_ds01 (root@phoenix) (gcc version 3.2.3 20030422 (Gentoo Lin ux 1.4 3.2.3-r2, propolice)) #3 Fri Nov 7 22:04:06 CET 2003 cat /proc/pci: Bus 1, device 0, function 0: VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Rage 128 PF/PRO AGP 4x TMDS (rev 0). The complete system is dead, even the kernel gives up service. The system can't even spit out a failure message into the logs. Expected Results: opengl programs should run like a charm! Dirk, has this problem shown up in xorg-x11 as well?
Please reopen if you add info.
Sorry for the late reply: I can't check whether the bug remains with xorg-x11, because I switched to a new system.
