Description Steffen Mutter 2003-11-25 10:59:40 UTC
I tried the Live CD (either the mini or the basic) unfortunately docpmcia did start PCMCIA but my wireless LAN Cards did not work.
(DLINK 660 with orinoco/hermes and a ZComax with prism2 chipset) did both not work. With both cards the installer loaded the prism2 module.

A normal PCMCIA-LAN card worked fine, so i could complete the installation using my LAN.
After rebooting into my installed system everything worked fine, but this should be fixed IMHO.

Was this still an issue with the 2004.0 and 2004.1 releases?
Comment 2 John Davis (zhen) (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-06-13 20:39:06 UTC
most definitely yes - 3rd party modules were very busted on the early 2004 releases. please try the 2004.2 testing livecds on http://dev.gentoo.org/~wolf31o2/releng and reopen the bug if things are still broken.

Moving these so we can remove the "Install CD" component from "Gentoo Linux".

I apologize to everyone for this spam, but according to the bugzilla developers,
this is the only reasonable way to do this.
