Description water 2010-10-30 13:31:27 UTC
I install sys-apps/openrc 0.6.3 and find a few problem .

1, I put " echo -n 255 > /sys/devices/platform/i8042/serio1/serio?/speed " in /etc/conf.d/local.start to set mouse speed. When I start computer , it says : No such file or directory . When I came into E17 desktop , I still can run this command .

2, After I install openrc, I find I can switch terminal with Alt+F? besides Ctrl+Alt+F? .
How to inhibit Alt+F? to change terminal ?

3, I find 'windowskey' even can switch terminal . How to inhibit it ? I use windowskey for other use .

4, In this page http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/power-management-guide.xml#doc_chap2 , there is a script ' /etc/acpi/actions/pmg_switch_runlevel.sh '. I put ' /etc/acpi/actions/pmg_switch_runlevel.sh "battery/battery" ' in /etc/conf.d/local.start . when start , it says : ' /etc/acpi/actions/pmg_switch_runlevel.sh: line 23: /var/lib/init.d/softlevel: No such file or directory ' .
Indeed , I find no /var/lib/init.d/softlevel . How to do with it ?

Thanks

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.when I start machine .

When I set rc_parallel="NO" and in E17 desktop , I can use 'Alt+F?' to change to other terminal and back again.
When I set rc_parallel="YES" and in E17 desktop , I can not use 'Alt+F?' to change to other terminal . When I set rc_parallel="YES" and in 'F1-F6' terminal , I can use 'Alt+F?' to change to other terminal .

So strange.

Hello,

I also had problems with OpenRC 0.6.3 : my keypad was not functioning under X (Gnome) : numbers were dead keys, the <enter> key worked but not the signs (the "+" key was giving me the contextual menu). I encountered random malfunctioning VT-switch, but I tested only Ctrl+Alt+F?, not Alt+F?. With a console, everything was fine.

With OpenRC 0.6.2, I found no bugs so far (but one dead multimedia key I can live without), neither under X, neither with a console.

I own a Logitech Cordless Desktop EX110 (plugged on PS/2). If needed I may test with a no-name keyboard.

Can you show me the output of "find /sys/devices/platform/i8042/ -ls"?
I recommend putting it in the local.start where you have the echo.

Alt+F? shouldn't ever switch, does it still happen if your change your keyboard mapping? Does it happen on a no-name keyboard?
Comment 4 Florian 2010-12-03 16:20:00 UTC
Hi, thank you for your attention.

It looks like my problem was not related with the one of the O.R. (water)

About the keypad, the culprit was Gnome : I found the "emulate mouse with keyboard" function enabled whereas I never asked for it. Quite confusing ?! Once disabled, I had no more problems.

The VT-switch is working as expected (Ctrl+Alt+Fx) with 0.6.4 and 0.6.5.

This file doesn't exist in the sysfs output you've attached: /sys/devices/platform/i8042/serio1/serio?/speed. Does it exist when you're inside E17?

I have /sys/devices/platform/i8042/serio1/serio2/speed after I install E17.
