I copied the livecd images on my notebook and installed a PXE boot environment to make it possible to install Gentoo over network as if there was a livecd in the machine. The Gentoo install cd fails when trying to mount the CD and drops me into a shell without a comment as of what I am expected to do now. So I though, first I'd mount the loop-mounted livecd image from the notebook, but the brain-dead busybox mount command on the livecd apparently does not support NFS. Duh. If you need a small mount and umount, I suggest using the diet libc. You can find an upx compressed mount and umount binary on foobar.math.fu-berlin.de:/pub/dietlibc/x86/.
still an issue ?
Was this still an issue with 2004.1, or have we solved it?
Are you sure it wasn't because the kernel did not include NFS support?
You should be able to get this working now. We do not support booting the LiveCD over the network, so even if this is not FIXED, then there's not much we can do. We are working on netboot images specifically for this reason. The LiveCD is not designed to work like this, but it just may work.
Moving these so we can remove the "Install CD" component from "Gentoo Linux". I apologize to everyone for this spam, but according to the bugzilla developers, this is the only reasonable way to do this.
