Description Dizzy 2003-11-25 01:11:07 UTC
Hi

I dont know where to report this and how to search for it if someone already
reported it. The ideea is that all Linux distros that I have seen and that have
a file /etc/*release (used by many scripts to figure out the distro and the
version) have "Linux" somewhere in that file. Wouldnt be good that Gentoo have
that too ?

Like "Gentoo Linux Base System version 1.4.3.10p1" ?

under no certain terms :)

What about the Gentoo FreeBSD port, or the HURD port (dead?).

Just Gentoo is fine, we are platform independant or at least we could be at some point.

Ok, I thought about this reason too but I was hoping gentoo will get something like "Gentoo FreeBSD ..." over there. But this is not my decision to take so I consider it "closed/invalid".

Thanks!
