Mount a cifs sharepoint 2. Unmount with umount.cifs <relative path to mountpoint> Compare /etc/mtab and /proc/mounts Actual Results: The share is unmounted correctly, but the entry is not removed from /etc/mtab. Subsequently mounting and unmounting the share in the same way will add another line to mtab that won't be removed. Expected Results: The entry should have been removed from /etc/mtab, since the share has been correctly unmounted (the mountpoint is now empty, and it doesn't show on /proc/mounts) Unmounting with umount.cifs <absolute pathname> or umount <relative or absolute pathname> works correctly, but only removes one line from mtab. If any line has been left there by umount.cifs <relative pathname>, it must be removed manually.
