Description John Chang 2010-10-24 01:43:14 UTC
When it comes to upgrade from openldap-2.4.19-r1 to openldap-2.4.23 and start building (emerge). I got an emake failed.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge --sync
2. emerge --update --deep --newuse world (got error)
3. even try "emerge -av openldap" and got error
4. Upgraded my kernel from 2.6.34-r6 to 2.6.34-r12
5. emerge --update --deep --newuse world (get error)
6. & try to "emerge -av openldap" and got error

Actual Results:
.libs/bind.o: file not recognized: File format not recognized
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[2]: *** [libldap_r.la] Error 1

make: *** [all-common] Error 1
 * ERROR: net-nds/openldap-2.4.23 failed:
 *   emake failed
 *
 * Call stack:
 *     ebuild.sh, line  54:  Called src_compile
 * environment, line 3399: Called die
 * The specific snippet of code:
 *       emake CC="${CC}" AR="${AR}" || die "emake failed";

This openldap is used in my php, samba, cups, wine, apache, autofs, curl, openssh, libnfsidmap, virtuoso-server, kdepimlibs, libnfsidmap, gconf, cyrus-sasl & apr-util. I have tried to unmerge all of the one mentioned and try to run the "emerge --update --deep --newuse world" again so that it will not try to emerge the openldap again. But somehow it try to emerge openldap. Wanted to update my system but couldn't as it always have this emake failed. Becos I do not have openldap installed, all of my above apps is not able to use them properly.
