Description Aparicio 2010-10-23 00:01:07 UTC
Awesome can act like a notification daemon, but applications that use this depend on libnotify witch depends on x11-misc/notification-daemon or xfce-extra/xfce4-notifyd.

The libnotify ebuild could have awesome as an alternative to these daemons.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge -p libnotify

Actual Results:
These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

So if you type 'notify-send foobar' and only libnotify and awesome is installed, the message will popup?

Exactly, awesome is listening on the dbus interface and shows the notifications.

Taking into account #323593 (and I've heard Enlightenment has its own daemon), maybe it's worth not to list daemons RDEPEND in ebuild, but elog something like "Notification will work only if your DE supports its, otherwise install..."?

That would be nice.
