Package should be keyworded, as http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers/b43#fw-b43-lp states, that kernels above linux-2.6.32 should use the latest firmware. Maybe a stabilization would be in order, too as our stable kernels are above 2.6.32 already. This should go together with b43-fwcutter, of course.
After reading how to resolve "missing keyword" (http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gentoo-amd64-faq.xml#keyword), I installed version 4.174.64.19 and can confirm that it is working on x86.
net-wireless/b43-firmware-4.174.64.19 is keyworded already for x86 and amd64. do you mean request for stable?
Huh? AFAIKS here: http://sources.gentoo.org/cgi-bin/viewvc.cgi/gentoo-x86/net-wireless/b43-firmware/b43-firmware-4.174.64.19.ebuild?view=markup it is not. The problem is not that i dunno how to keyword it (i'm using it already for a very long time), but that other users might get problems by not using it with the stable kernel. It should go stable normally, but at least keywording it ~amd64 and ~x86 would be good for now.
I have confirmed this firmware works for the AirPort Extreme in my PowerBook G4. Can the ~ppc keyword be added? 0001:10:12.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4306 802.11b/g Wireless LAN Controller (rev 03) Subsystem: Apple Computer Inc. Added ~amd64 and ~x86.
