Description Francois Meehan 2003-11-23 05:50:46 UTC
I recently decided to put my gentoo up to date and emerged a series of packages
in one sweep.

I since have problems, machine is slow and seem to have problems resolving host
ip addresses.

One symptom:

dig @localhost mtclof01
dig: relocation error: /usr/lib/libdns.so: undefined symbol: CRYPTO_set_mem_function

I re-emerged bind and openssl, still have problems.

version of ssl: dev-libs/openssl-0.9.7c-r1
version of bind: net-dns/bind-9.2.3

Thanks in advance,

Francois

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. run the dig command: dig @localhost mtclof01
2.
3.

Actual Results:
get the following:
dig: relocation error: /usr/lib/libdns.so: undefined symbol: CRYPTO_set_mem_function

Francios,

Please remerge bind-tools, as it is not the bind package that provides you with dig and libdns.so:

voyager / # qpkg -f /usr/lib/libdns.so
net-dns/bind-tools *
voyager / # qpkg -f /usr/bin/dig
net-dns/bind-tools *
