the ebuild for the current package doesn't exist!

No such version available. You are confusing git branches with actual releases

there is a beta 2.1 and some snapshots, 2.1 beta is much improved since 2.0.1

btw, qt-4.7 not masked anymore, so 2.0.1 can be unmasked

Creator 2.1 needs Qt 4.7.1, which is not released yet.  With Qt 4.7.0, syntax highlighting is *extremely* slow, something that will be fixed by Qt 4.7.1.

This is why binary snapshots of Creator 2.1 come bundled with a Git snapshot of Qt.

Qt 4.7.1 is in portage now, but creator ebuild fails:

/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/4.5.1/../../../../x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/bin/ld: cannot find -lQmlJSEditor
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[3]: *** [../../../lib64/qtcreator/plugins/Nokia/libQt4ProjectManager.so] Error 1

Also, Creator 2.1.0 beta 2 is now available upstream.

Please open a new bug about the build failures. I will bump qt-creator later
