Hi, The binary version of Chromium browser keep popping-up "make default/ignore" window with each new start of the browser no matter of the previous answer. I've also failed to make it as a default via tools->options. The menu "open link" from a console terminal (both gnome and kde) also doesn't work. It was working find with www-client/chromium-6.0.472.62 compiled from a source code. ps. I'm using 8.0.552.0 and still have this problem. From a chromium bug report: http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=33842 'It looks like it's not including our fixed xdg-mime, which is the script that causes this bug. Unless upstream xdg-utils has applied the patch (which they're working on, but they're also switching revision control systems at the moment, so they're busy), I'd expect this problem to persist until the ebuild includes the fixed xdg-mime.'
I managed to fix the problem with "open link" in a terminal, see the bug #341819. Again, www-client/chromium is not affected by these two bugs so it must be some fixes (doexe out/Release/xdg-settings?) in the ebuild.
