Description Juergen Rose 2010-10-08 10:46:28 UTC
If I try to install the VBOXADDITIONS in a ubuntu 10.10_rc Maverick Meerkat amd64 VM, it fails with:

/media/VBOXADDITIONS_3.2.8_64453/autorun.sh
...
Starting the VirtualBox Guest Additions ...done.
Installing the Windows System drivers
Warning: unknow version of the X Windows System installed. Not installing
X Windows System drivers.

As a result I get only a 800x600 screen resolution in my ubuntu VM.

Any hint is appreciated.

Reproducible: Always

If I look in /var/log/Xorg.0.log of the VM, I see that a 1.9.0 xorg server is running.

Unfortunately there's not much we can do here. This is an upstream issue (see URL) which should be fixed with the next VBox release...

Thanks for the info Lars,

so I will wait for the next virtualbox release.
Comment 4 Juergen Rose 2010-10-13 13:38:57 UTC
The issue disappeared with virtualbox-ose-3.2.10.
