Some of these require commentary: sys-auth/openpam does not build cleanly. From the looks, this is a libtool problem and needs to be fixed in their build machinery. I will try to figure this out. dev-libs/libedit requires a useflag "unicode" that defaults to disabled at least on FreeBSD. Again, a patch will be forthcoming if and when I figure out how to accomplish this.
Finally, sys-libs/gdbm requires manual intervention to create the lib*.so symlinks. I suspect, once again, erroneous assumptions in the build machinery.
everything here should be fixed by having a system set + couple of packages ~amd64-fbsd with freebsd-9.0
