Latest version of xwininfo (1.1.0, ~amd64) segfaults whenever I click a window(more info in linked URL). Downgrading to stable (1.0.5) and then running it works. A few days ago, a patch has been added to the ebuild, don't know if that may be the problem. As you can see, I already rebuild everything X11, but nothing changed Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge =x11-apps/xwininfo-1.10 2. xwininfo 3. click any (root) window Actual Results: segfault Expected Results: work properly, returning the querried data ### emerge --info Portage 2.2_rc88 (default/linux/amd64/10.0/desktop, gcc-4.4.4, glibc-2.12.1-r1, 2.6.34-gentoo-r10 x86_64) ================================================================= System uname: Linux-2.6.34-gentoo-r10-x86_64-Intel-R-_Core-TM-_i7_CPU_920_@_2.67GHz-with-gentoo-2.0.1 Timestamp of tree: Thu, 30 Sep 2010 13:15:01 +0000 app-shells/bash: 4.1_p7 dev-java/java-config: 2.1.11 dev-lang/python: 2.6.5-r3, 3.1.2-r4 dev-util/cmake: 2.8.1-r2 sys-apps/baselayout: 2.0.1 sys-apps/openrc: 0.6.3 sys-apps/sandbox: 2.3-r1 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.67 sys-devel/automake: 1.7.9-r2, 1.10.3, 1.11.1 sys-devel/binutils: 2.20.1-r1 sys-devel/gcc: 4.4.4-r2 sys-devel/gcc-config: 1.4.1 sys-devel/libtool: 2.2.10 sys-devel/make: 3.81-r2 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.35 (sys-kernel/linux-headers) ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="amd64 ~amd64" ACCEPT_LICENSE="*" CBUILD="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-march=native -mtune=native -msse4 -mcx16 -msahf -mpopcnt -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" CHOST="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/ca-certificates.conf /etc/env.d /etc/env.d/java/ /etc/fonts/fonts.conf /etc/gconf /etc/gentoo-release /etc/revdep-rebuild /etc/sandbox.d /etc/terminfo" CXXFLAGS="-march=native -mtune=native -msse4 -mcx16 -msahf -mpopcnt -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" EMERGE_DEFAULT_OPTS="--jobs=4 --keep-going --nospinner --quiet-build --with-bdeps=y" FEATURES="assume-digests binpkg-logs collision-protect distlocks fail-clean fixlafiles fixpackages metadata-transfer news parallel-fetch preserve-libs protect-owned sandbox sfperms strict unknown-features-warn unmerge-logs unmerge-orphans userfetch userpriv usersandbox usersync" GENTOO_MIRRORS="ftp://sunsite.informatik.rwth-aachen.de/pub/Linux/gentoo http://distfiles.gentoo.org" LANG="de_DE.utf8" LDFLAGS="-Wl,--hash-style=gnu -Wl,-O1 -Wl,--as-needed -Wl,--sort-common" LINGUAS="de de_DE en en_US" MAKEOPTS="-j9" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_COMPRESS="xz" PORTAGE_COMPRESS_FLAGS="-9" PORTAGE_CONFIGROOT="/" PORTAGE_RSYNC_OPTS="--recursive --links --safe-links --perms --times --compress --force --whole-file --delete --stats --timeout=180 --exclude=/distfiles --exclude=/local --exclude=/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage/gentoo/" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/var/lib/layman/vmware /usr/portage/phorcix" SYNC="rsync://rsync.europe.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="X acl alsa amd64 attr caps crypt idn mmx multilib nls nptl openmp pam pic sse sse2 sse3 ssl ssse3 unicode xcomposite xinerama xrandr" ALSA_CARDS="hda-intel" ALSA_PCM_PLUGINS="*" APACHE2_MODULES="actions alias auth_basic authn_alias authn_anon authn_dbm authn_default authn_file authz_dbm authz_default authz_groupfile authz_host authz_owner authz_user autoindex cache cgi cgid dav dav_fs dav_lock deflate dir disk_cache env expires ext_filter file_cache filter headers include info log_config logio mem_cache mime mime_magic negotiation rewrite setenvif speling status unique_id userdir usertrack vhost_alias" CAMERAS="casio_qv" COLLECTD_PLUGINS="df interface irq load memory rrdtool swap syslog" ELIBC="glibc" GPSD_PROTOCOLS="ashtech aivdm earthmate evermore fv18 garmin garmintxt gpsclock itrax mtk3301 nmea ntrip navcom oceanserver oldstyle oncore rtcm104v2 rtcm104v3 sirf superstar2 timing tsip tripmate tnt ubx" INPUT_DEVICES="evdev joystick wacom" KERNEL="linux" LCD_DEVICES="bayrad cfontz cfontz633 glk hd44780 lb216 lcdm001 mtxorb ncurses text" LINGUAS="de de_DE en en_US" RUBY_TARGETS="ruby18" USERLAND="GNU" VIDEO_CARDS="nvidia" XTABLES_ADDONS="quota2 psd pknock lscan length2 ipv4options ipset ipp2p iface geoip fuzzy condition tee tarpit sysrq steal rawnat logmark ipmark dhcpmac delude chaos account" Unset: CPPFLAGS, CTARGET, FFLAGS, INSTALL_MASK, LC_ALL, PORTAGE_BUNZIP2_COMMAND, PORTAGE_RSYNC_EXTRA_OPTS
It indeed does. However, current git HEAD works fine as well as 1.0.5.
(In reply to comment #1) > It indeed does. However, current git HEAD works fine as well as 1.0.5. > EH? git head is exactly the same as the 1.1.0 we have in portage...
(In reply to comment #2) > EH? git head is exactly the same as the 1.1.0 we have in portage... Then we're having some extended magic here. Tested once again. Downgraded to 1.1.0 -- segfault. Upgraded to 9999 (rebuilt) -- works.
Tomáš, did you not patch xwininfo recently? :)
(In reply to comment #4) > Tomáš, did you not patch xwininfo recently? :) The patch is clean, it differs with HEAD only by a single space. What causes the trouble seems to be --with-xcb-icccm. We don't have that in the live ebuild, and after removing that the 1.1.0 version works as well.
Should be fixed in xwininfo-1.1.0-r1.
(In reply to comment #6) > Should be fixed in xwininfo-1.1.0-r1. > Confirmed for ~amd64, thanks.
