Description Ronny Schoebel 2003-11-20 03:33:34 UTC
I tried to get rid of tetex and noticed a hard dependency to app-text/jadetex in app-text/sgmltools-lite. So, even if I don't want tex, but want to install say, kdevelop I always get a complete tetex installation just because a 300k package depends on it, which it doesn't have to. I removed the depenedency and remerged sgmltools-lite without any problems so far.

Wouldn't it be possible to install tetex only if it is in USE?

jadetex is only required for the DVI/PDF/JadeTeX backends to sgmltools-lite. I think USE="tetex" may be appropriate here. usata, what do you think ?

Agreed. tetex USE flag seems appropriate in this case.

Fixed in version 3.0.3-r7 in CVS. It's a decent change to the ebuild, so I want it to get some testing before it reaches the stable profile.

Thanks.
