Description Kristian Whittick 2010-09-29 08:49:30 UTC
Following all instructions for the first time I created three filling systems as instructed: sda1, sda2(swap), sda3.
However, when reading the instructions for mounting the filing systems it only mentioned sda3 and sda1.

There is one comment about permissions on the /tmp.
However it does not explain if you need to mount or not mount the swap partition.
I think an extra sentence explaining the swap would be helpful to a new user.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
N/A
Present in handbook.
Actual Results:
Confusion over the Swap partition.

Expected Results:
Addition information about swap and commands if required.

We already tell users to run "swapon" elsewhere in the handbook, and our fstab examples cover what needs to be mounted and what doesn't.

Yes, I understand that now, however if you read it for the first time it leaves new users questioning it.
I still think that a small comment saying "there is no need to mount the swap partition" would help clarity.

Kristian, I agree with Josh that it's pretty obvious that one shouldn't "mount" the swap, especially when the very previous section explicitly mentions how to "activate" it. The Handbook should stay as-is, in my opinion.
