Description Igor 2010-09-29 08:31:57 UTC
farmshop ~ # uname -a
Linux farmshop 2.6.32-gentoo-r7 #1 SMP Wed Sep 22 13:59:03 MSD 2010 x86_64 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E7500 @ 2.93GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux

to reproduce bug:
1. genkernel --menuconfig bzImage
2. Add ext4 support to kernel (include ext4 support to kernel)
3. rebuild kernel
4. reboot
5. bootloader cannot find kernel file.
Comment 1 Sylvain GRIALOU 2010-09-29 20:21:21 UTC
this may not be related to gentoo, normally the kernel should fallback to ext3, then ext2 when checking for FS, do you also have built-in ext3 ? be sure to set a normal config concerning experimental or testing options
Comment 2 Sylvain GRIALOU 2010-09-29 20:22:47 UTC
also genkernel line should be :

genkernel --menuconfig all

(not just bzImage)
Comment 3 Michael Weber (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-09-29 20:38:36 UTC
Have you tried to set `rootfstype=ext4` in the kernel command line?
Comment 4 Michael Weber (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-09-29 20:40:03 UTC
Can you please give us more information? like `emerge --info`?
Which bootloader do you use? Can you please attach the config file?
