Description Sasha Polonsky 2010-09-27 13:42:12 UTC
Thunderbird has a feature - then you are sorting mail, and moving one or several messages to some local or IMAP folder, you can move other messages to the same folder by using 'Move to <foder name> again' item in the context menu. This item was operational in Thunderbird 2.0.0.23, but is always grayed out in thunderbird 3.1.3 and 3.1.4. I have tried on the three different machines - two i686 and one amd64. On one of i686 and amd64 Thunderbird was upgraded to 3.1.3 from 2.0.0.23, on the third one it was emerged as a new application. Upgrading to 3.1.4 and removing/recreating your user profile does not help.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Emerge thunderbird-3.1.3.
2. Create some IMAP account. You can use GMAIL IMAP account for testing.
3. Move a message from one folder to another (for example, from INBOX to Personal)
4. Right-click another message in INBOX.

Actual Results:
You will see the context menu with 'Move to Personal again' grayed out, so you cannot click this item.

Expected Results:
Menu item 'Move to Personal again' should be operational.

It's not actually a Gentoo-specific bug. It appears in Thunderbird downloaded from the Mozilla site as a binary package, and also in Thunderbird under Fedora 13 (probably in other Linux distributions too, but I don't have more of them at hand to test). So this bug can probably be closed, and the bug - https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=574351 - voted for.

Upstream patch is avalable and new release is in the making so we will pick it up0 in 3.1.8
Comment 3 Sasha Polonsky 2011-01-15 17:31:16 UTC
But I still don't see thunderbird 3.1.8 in portage. The latest ebuild is 3.1.7-r2 from 1/2/2011. When 3.1.8 will be in portage?

When it is released for the public we will add it to portage, not a minute sooner.

If this is critical you could just copy http://hg.mozilla.org/releases/comm-1.9.2/raw-rev/1ef884cf0f8a and place it in /etc/portage/patches/mail-client/thunderbird and emerge thunderbird again to have it apply to your local build.
