Hi,

how's things?

I've tried twice to compile both packages openoffice-1.1.0-r2 and openoffice-bin-1.1.0
but they gave me the same error which I report here below:

Do you have any idea what the pvrcore device is? Could it be that this is invoked by X?
Comment 2 Enrico Giorio 2003-11-20 14:52:22 UTC
Unfortunately I've no idea for both of your questions, I've run them under a konsole window.Do you think should I try emerge them without X running?

Comment 3 Paul de Vrieze (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-11-22 03:47:24 UTC
Well, let me put it another way. Do you have any special tv card or mpeg coder card or something that could use that device. Looking at what little is returned by google it could have something to do with firewire devices. There is no reason whatsoever that the installer should need to touch that. So the only other to attempt to use it would be the virtual X server that is started for the install.

Hi Paul,

thank you for your answer, now I understand better.
I have a "Hercules Kyro Series" graphic card with
a TV out.

One week before emerging Openoffice I emerged
Kyro-kernel package to improve my card.It tainted
me the kernel (so is written every time module
powervr.o is loaded).

May that helps you?

Bye,
Enrico.-
Comment 5 Paul de Vrieze (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-11-26 02:15:04 UTC
For the moment things would probably work if you added addpredict /dev/pvrcore0 to the ebuild at the place where other addpredicts are also mentioned. I will further work on getting the install in a way that no virtual X server is used anymore.

Ok Paul,
I've followed your tip and the tonight last compilation succeeded.
Thank you very much,
Enrico Giorio.-

I'm happy to hear that. I'll try to get to a full solution later. But will resolve it for now.

Move deprecated ebuild still being marked as LATER to Fixed.
