In Portage, the most recent version of net-voip/telepathy-gabble is 0.8.14. Since more than one year, there's a 0.9.x branch; since recently, there's even 0.10.x. I understand that bumping net-voip/telepathy-gabble would also mean to bump a couple of other telepathy-* (and maybe more) packages. Or is there an actual problem with newer versions of these packages? Reproducible: Always
Since the 0.9 branch, you need either gnutls 2.11.1 or gnutls 2.8.x, or you'll have 95% of jabber services not working anymore (2.10.x doesn't work). Maybe a backport of the fixes in gnutls 2.10 should fix that, though.
the 0.9 branch had a clear "This is dev branch" message and was suggesting people to not use it for day to day work. Now that 0.10 is out it will be added to the tree asap.
