I'll take this

I put in 2.7.5, don't see the need for .3 since .5 is newer

Thanks. I disagree about including older versions for the simple reason that 2.7 is an "alpha" series (according to the author) and that on the basis alone, one might wish to explicitly choose any given version from the past several releases which is known to be working in a given setup - and, by logical extension, one cannot be certain that the newest version won't break something (no matter how slim the chances, or what the nature of the product is).

On the flipside, I suppose in principle if one _is_ going to test an "alpha" branch then it would be more useful to report potential bugs against the latest version anyway. That's probably a viewpoint that makes more sense to a developer than a user.

By the way, maybe the stable version should be added as "x86" (that would be 2.6.1-5, as the author deems that to be the latest stable release). I'll submit an ebuild for that just in case you happen to agree.

Anyway, that's just my 2 pence. Many thanks for attending to this so quickly - I'm grateful :)
Comment 6 Joshua Brindle (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-11-19 11:25:02 UTC
but both of these ebuilds are for the 2.7 series and .3 is older then .5

they are both "alpha" therefore only the latest should be included (especially since alpha dansguardian is heavily developed and older versions lack bug fixes, etc)

Yes, I guess that's in accordance with what my 2nd para said and you're right. Just wanted to point out there might be plausible reasons for the other point of view in some cases but maybe not for a program such as this ;)

Thanks.
