After lots of updates, sftp (and fuse sshfs) stoped working. ssh worked well. During investigation I found an article http://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/users/2010-March/369736.html which helps. The problem was in server's ~/.bashrc: bind* statements make sftp ill. My current ssh configuration: client (x86): [I--] [ ] dev-libs/openssl-0.9.8o (0) [I--] [ ] net-misc/openssh-5.5_p1-r2 (0) server (x86_amd64): [I--] [ ] dev-libs/openssl-0.9.8o (0) [I--] [ ] net-misc/openssh-5.3_p1-r1 (0) Reproducible: Always
It's nothing to do with any (run time or compile time configuration) file Gentoo installs, so how could we possibly fix it?
Maybe warn user while installing ssh. Anyway, its better to have bug record, since such problem can waste a lot of time to debug.
We couldn't begin to fathom we could figure out how to contemplate setting up ways to tell users what past square wheels not to reinvent.
