- After booting, the very first character hit on the keyboard (on the login prompt) is systematically ignored (not echoed as well) consecutive ones are taken into account. - Does not seem to occur for the password field - After a successfull login, at the shell prompt, the very first character is systematically ignored. consecutive ones are ignored or not more on a random basis. (Could be linked with the time between two characters) - These observations are also valid for alt+Fx hits. Reproducible: Always 1- This problem does not occur on the same system with the same hardware and identical /usr/src/linux/.config with 2.6.34-r1 2 - This problem does not occur on the same system with the same hardware but different /usr/src/linux.config with all stable versions since 2.6.29-r6 3 - Keyboard is a Logitech UltraX Premium (USB HID compliant) Will provide any additional information requested.
Can you please test it with a different USB HID keyboard?
From the 2.6.34.7 release email: "...It fixes a single bug that a number of users have reported in that their USB devices no longer work properly. Sometimes it causes lost keystrokes,.." Can you please test with gentoo-sources-2.6.34-r10 and let us know the outcome.
Thanks & apologizes to Robin Johnson : I had not managed to find anything looking like a keyboard apart from a 25 years old Lexmark and a Bösendorfer 170... Definitely not USB HID... Thanks & apologizes to Mike pagano : Despite careful readings of changelogs, I had not read that important piece of information you mention. I am happy to confirm that I cannot reproduce this bug under gentoo-sources 2.6.34-r10
