I am upgrading to xorg-server-1.8, and in the process, I am trying to pull in x11-drivers/xf86-input-synaptics for my laptop. However, I am running into this file collision error: * Detected file collision(s): * * /usr/share/man/man1/synclient.1.bz2 * /usr/share/man/man1/syndaemon.1.bz2 * /usr/lib64/xorg/modules/input/synaptics_drv.so * /usr/bin/syndaemon * /usr/bin/synclient * * Searching all installed packages for file collisions... * * Press Ctrl-C to Stop * * x11-drivers/synaptics-0.14.6 * /usr/bin/synclient * /usr/bin/syndaemon * /usr/lib64/xorg/modules/input/synaptics_drv.so * /usr/share/man/man1/synclient.1.bz2 * /usr/share/man/man1/syndaemon.1.bz2 I have been able to move past this by simply uninstalling synaptics, like so: emerge -C x11-drivers/synaptics Should this be handled as a "blocker" or "update" instead? Thanks! Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
x11-drivers/synaptics is not in portage and has not been for a year. At some point the blockers will be removed and users who do not update for that long will have to solve problems themselves.
