Description Ulf Dambacher 2010-09-09 12:28:37 UTC
I did a fresh gentoo install.
emerging xorg-server and lxde and configuring as to the handbook
I was able to startx but
the user interface had little boxes instead of characters.
I found out that there were no fonts installed at all.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.fresh gentoo install
2.install xorg server
3.install lxde
4) startx shows ui without any characters
Actual Results:
unreadable gui, you can deduce funtion ony by icons

Expected Results:
nice and lean gui

I manually installed fonts-adobe-100dpi, fonts-adobe-75dpi and fonts-misc-misc to make it work.
Adding these dependencies may solve the problem.

If you install: xorg-11 metapackage, include some fonts :)
