Description Marco Gusy 2010-09-09 11:25:00 UTC
For compatibility reasons i still need mount.smbfs (it allows changing ttl in mount options while cifs doesn't).
Mainstream package has it but gentoo ebuilds now compile only mount.cifs.
In some cases we still need smbfs, so please allow us to install smbmount and mount.smbfs.

Reproducible: Always

smbfs hasn't been maintained for a while, just like http://samba.org/samba/smbfs/ says. If you still think otherwise, please provide links, code snippets or a way to enable smbfs.

smbfs has not been maintained in the last few years. Instead, development has been focused on another implementation of the CIFS protocol in the kernel.
