Description askldas alsdjlkasd 2003-11-16 14:06:22 UTC
Gentoo Linux is an operating system that runs on many architectures and in the
future, it would be nice to have it ported to kernels other than Linux, too.
But then, it would be irrelevant to include "Linux" in it's name.
So, please consider renaming the whole project simply to Gentoo, which is a cool
name on it's own anyways.

Comment 4 askldas alsdjlkasd 2003-11-22 13:59:47 UTC
Oh! Really, Gentoo is already something else :-(
But what if you port Gentoo Linux to the FreeBSD or Hurd/L4 kernel for example?
Will it be called Gentoo Linux/FreeBSD then?
Comment 5 askldas alsdjlkasd 2003-12-01 05:43:08 UTC
maybe it would be okay to rename Gentoo Linux to simply Gentoo/Linux.
then the Darwin port can be called Gentoo/Darwin, for instance
Comment 6 askldas alsdjlkasd 2003-12-28 19:06:22 UTC
it seems that the NetBSD port of Gentoo is here!
so this is quite an urgent issue...
let's call the Linux port Gentoo/Linux, the
NetBSD port Gentoo/NetBSD! straightforward,
and follows Debian habits. okay?

Hmm, I like the last suggestion. And then we have Gentoo/Windows :)
