Description Ed Wildgoose 2010-09-06 21:12:56 UTC
The s3ql is a newcomer to the list of Amazon S3 fuse filesystems, but it seems to be one of the most promising solutions for a maintained, compressing, de-duplicating, encrypted, chunked, S3/scp based, backup filesystem

The code is Python and requires a few dependencies not yet packaged as ebuilds. Installation link shows dependencies required.

The actual installation is very straightforward.

Evaluating the project as the destination for an rsync backup strategy. So far looks by far the best of the bunch

Reproducible: Always

I suggest taking a closer look at the non-packaged dependencies, opening a concise ebuild request bugs for them as well and making this bug depend on them.

I added ebuilds for s3ql (and two of its missing dependencies) to liucougar overlay: http://www.liucougar.net/blog/archives/247

could someone take a look? I am interested in merging them back to official portage, if feasible.

Added s3ql-1.8.1 to CVS.
