The s3ql is a newcomer to the list of Amazon S3 fuse filesystems, but it seems to be one of the most promising solutions for a maintained, compressing, de-duplicating, encrypted, chunked, S3/scp based, backup filesystem The code is Python and requires a few dependencies not yet packaged as ebuilds. I suggest taking a closer look at the non-packaged dependencies, opening a concise ebuild request bugs for them as well and making this bug depend on them.
I added ebuilds for s3ql (and two of its missing dependencies) to liucougar overlay: http://www.liucougar.net/blog/archives/247 could someone take a look? I am interested in merging them back to official portage, if feasible.
