After recompiling glibc with nptl netcat segfaults on every start up. $ qpkg -I -v netcat net-analyzer/netcat-110-r2 * $ emerge info Portage 2.0.49-r15 (default-x86-1.4, gcc-3.2.3, glibc-2.3.2-r1, 2.6.0-test9) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.0-test9 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) Processor Gentoo Base System version 1.4.3.10p1 distcc 2.11.1 i686-pc-linux-gnu (protocols 1 and 2) (default port 3632) [disable d] ccache version 2.3 [enabled] ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-march=athlon-tbird -O2 -pipe" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" COMPILER="gcc3" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /var/qmail/control /usr/share/config /usr/kde/2/share/confi g /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/co nfig/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/platex/config/" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-march=athlon-tbird -O2 -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs ccache sandbox userpriv usersandbox strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://gentoo.oregonstate.edu http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/Linu x/distributions/gentoo" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 apm avi crypt cups encode foomaticdb gif jpeg libg++ mad mpeg ncurses n ls pdflib png quicktime truetype xml2 xmms xv zlib alsa gdbm berkdb slang readli ne tetex svga java ruby X sdl gpm tcpd pam ssl perl python imlib oggvorbis gtk m otif opengl mozilla gphoto2 dga gtk2 maildir samba xface -oss -arts -kde -libwww -mikmod -qt spell -gnome -nas -esd imap mbox aalib objc vim-with-x 3dnow pic np tl mmx ruby18"
did you recompile netcat ? i use it just fine over here
Emerging net-analyzer/netcat-110-r4 (~x86 masked) fixed this. The difference between -r2 (which this bug is about) -r4 pulls in netcat-110-deb-patches.tbz2 which seems to fix it. Make -r4 stable and a dependency for glibc with nptl?
spanks, how soon can we bump -r4 to stable anyway, seems it's been in portage for a few months
