basic configure for "spicec -h localhost -p 5903" to work: <graphics type='spice' port='5903' tlsPort='5904' autoport='no' listen='127.0.0.1'/> <video> <model type='qxl' vram='65536' heads='1'/> </video>
No. As I've told dev-zero, this will not get merged into libvirt. The author of those patches is a member of upstream and the rest of the guys from upstream have agreed that until SPICE itself is merged into qemu-kvm, they will not merge these into libvirt. The SPICE patches themselves have been rejected with comments from qemu-kvm upstream and qemu upstream.

This will have to be moved upstream.

Does anybody have an idea when will spice hit qemu-kvm and libvirt?
no idea about qemu-kvm, but libvirt-0.8.6 has spice support.
if the qemu-people accept the pull request you can expect spice-support in qemu really soon: http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.emulators.qemu/87454/match=spice
