After installing a new gentoo system from an old one (chrooting) I found that with 2.4.22-ck kernel /sbin/dhcpcd was failing to find my IP. Using the gentoo-sources kernel (2.24.20-gentoo-r8) solved the problem. Both kernels used the same kernel configuration. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. compile 2.4.22-ck kernel 2. reboot 3. watch eth0 fail to come up. kernel config supplied. let me know if you need additional information.
Created attachment 20798 [details] kernel config used for ck-sources gentoo-sources kernel modified the file on save, but I didn't manually change anything between kernels.
Looks like this is upstream then. Can I recommend that you take this problem over to Con Kolivas <kernel at kolivas dot org> as we can't do much with external patchsets.
