Could someone add some information about herds to the Developer's policy doc? I found an ebuild with a missing IUSE today that was not part of my herd. I wasn't exactly sure how to proceed. I spoke to g2boojum. He suggested I make the change, since it was trivial. If it were a more substantive change, he suggested I speak with the actual maintainers. This sounds reasonable to me. Anyway, this sort of thing should probably be documented somewhere. A
I'm not fully known to the herds-situation (probably just as much as most developers). Perhaps someone more intensively involved with herds can give us a patch?
I'd like to add a paragraph to policy.xml as another bullet point in the "General Guidelines" chapter: * Every package must be accompanied by a metadata.xml file which lists - amongst other information - what herd (and/or individual maintainers) are in charge of the package. For QA reasons, only listed people should touch the ebuild(s). I guess I'd better propose this on -core or -dev, but let me first ask it on this bug :)
Well, the link is added to the policy. I'm marking this one as fixed as I haven't received much more input on the subject.
