Filed upstream, but the patch works with a simple addition of src_prepare() { epatch "${FILESDIR}/${P}-xhidden.patch" } to the ebuild. I'm not sure why this doesn't seem to be a problem for everyone on amd64, but I know at least one other person is affected. I can provide additional information if anyone else wants to try to reproduce the error.
