Description Michael Orlitzky gentoo-dev 2010-08-30 18:47:57 UTC
The title pretty much says it.

From /usr/portage/virtual/perl-File-Spec/perl-File-Spec-3.30.ebuild,

  KEYWORDS="amd64 x86..."
  RDEPEND="|| ( ~dev-lang/perl-5.10.1..."

But dev-lang/perl-5.10.1 is ~amd64 ~x86.
Comment 1 Jeremy Olexa (darkside) (RETIRED) archtester gentoo-dev Security 2010-08-30 19:07:54 UTC
Why did you snip the line early? The RDEPEND atom is correct..

RDEPEND="|| ( ~dev-lang/perl-5.10.1 ~perl-core/File-Spec-${PV} )"

which means perl-5.10.1 OR File-Spec-3.31

Keywords: File-Spec-3.31[0]: amd64 arm x86 ~alpha ~amd64-linux ~hppa ~ia64 ~m68k ~mips ~ppc ~ppc-macos ~ppc64 ~s390 ~sh ~sparc ~sparc-solaris ~sparc64-solaris ~x64-macos ~x64-solaris ~x86-fbsd ~x86-interix ~x86-linux ~x86-macos ~x86-solaris

as you can see, File-Spec-3.31 is marked stable so that dep is satisfied. Closing this bug as invalid because there isn't anything wrong here.
Comment 2 Michael Orlitzky gentoo-dev 2010-08-30 19:17:38 UTC
Oh, sorry. I should have been paying more attention. Something I don't understand is going on here:

  mx1 ~ # emerge -pvuD --newuse world

  These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

  Calculating dependencies... done!

  !!! All ebuilds that could satisfy "~dev-lang/perl-5.10.1" have been masked.
  !!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request:
  - dev-lang/perl-5.10.1 (masked by: ~x86 keyword)

  (dependency required by "virtual/perl-File-Spec-3.30" [installed])
  (dependency required by "world" [argument])

However, this works:

  mx1 ~ # emerge -pvu --newuse world

  These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

  Calculating dependencies... done!
  [ebuild     U ] sys-devel/make-3.81-r2 [3.81] USE="-nls -static" 0 kB
  [ebuild     U ] dev-libs/eventlog-0.2.12 [0.2.10] USE="-static-libs%" 297 kB
  [ebuild     U ] sys-devel/m4-1.4.14-r1 [1.4.12] USE="-examples" 1,100 kB
  [ebuild U ] app-crypt/gnupg-2.0.16-r1 [2.0.15] USE="bzip2 -adns -caps -doc -ldap -nls -openct -pcsc-lite (-selinux) -smartcard -static" 3,911 kB
  [ebuild     U ] media-libs/freetype-2.4.2 [2.3.12] USE="-X -auto-hinter% -bindist -debug -doc -fontforge -utils" 1,401 kB
  [ebuild     U ] perl-core/File-Spec-3.31 [3.30] 132 kB
  [ebuild     U ] sys-devel/bison-2.4.2 [2.4.1] USE="-nls -static" 1,579 kB

Any idea why it barfs with -D?

Please post your emerge --info and we can redirect this report to the portage team.

Comment 5 Donnie Berkholz (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-08-31 14:47:11 UTC
Seems like it's trying to fulfill that OR with a newer masked version of a package already installed rather than a stable one that isn't yet installed. Any possibility that you've somehow masked perl-core/File-Spec-3.31?
Comment 6 Zac Medico gentoo-dev 2010-08-31 15:52:17 UTC
In comment #0 and comment #2 it says virtual/perl-File-Spec-3.30 (instead of 3.31) but latest stable is 3.31 as shown here:

http://packages.gentoo.org/package/virtual/perl-File-Spec
http://packages.gentoo.org/package/perl-core/File-Spec

Please post the output of these commands:

emerge -pv ~perl-core/File-Spec-3.30
emerge -pv ~perl-core/File-Spec-3.31
Comment 7 Michael Orlitzky gentoo-dev 2010-08-31 17:41:04 UTC
This should answer both questions. I haven't updated anything since I noticed the problem yesterday.

  mx1 ~ # emerge -pv ~perl-core/File-Spec-3.30

  These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

  Calculating dependencies... done!
  [ebuild   R   ] perl-core/File-Spec-3.30  0 kB

  Total: 1 package (1 reinstall), Size of downloads: 0 kB
  mx1 ~ # emerge -pv ~perl-core/File-Spec-3.31

  These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

  Calculating dependencies... done!
  [ebuild     U ] perl-core/File-Spec-3.31 [3.30] 132 kB

  Total: 1 package (1 upgrade), Size of downloads: 132 kB

Same output.
Comment 10 Torsten Veller (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-08-31 18:30:49 UTC
Why doesn't it update the virtual?
Try: emerge -pv ~virtual/perl-File-Spec-3.31
Comment 11 Michael Orlitzky gentoo-dev 2010-08-31 18:37:02 UTC
I found the package that's causing the error:

  mx1 ~ # emerge -pv virtual/perl-File-Spec

  These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

  Calculating dependencies... done!
  [ebuild   R   ] virtual/perl-File-Spec-3.30  0 kB

  mx1 ~ # emerge -pvu virtual/perl-File-Spec

  These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

  Calculating dependencies... done!

  Total: 0 packages, Size of downloads: 0 kB

  mx1 ~ # emerge -pvuD virtual/perl-File-Spec

  These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

  Calculating dependencies... done!

  !!! All ebuilds that could satisfy "~dev-lang/perl-5.10.1" have been masked.

It looks like virtual/perl-File-Spec-3.31 is ~x86, while perl-core/File-Spec is stable x86. Could that cause a conflict with --deep?

Did you sync since you posted your emerge --info in comment #4? It shows 20 Aug 2010 11:15:03 +0000 as tree time stamp and 1.31 was marked as stable on x86 on Aug 20 11:27:33 2010 UTC. Maybe you managed to sync during the stabilization procedure.
Comment 13 Michael Orlitzky gentoo-dev 2010-08-31 18:58:51 UTC
I synced yesterday.

  1283191793: Started emerge on: Aug 30, 2010 14:09:53
  1283191793:  *** emerge --with-bdeps --verbose sync
  1283191793:  === sync
  1283191794: >>> Starting rsync with rsync://141.219.155.230/gentoo-portage
  1283192012: === Sync completed with rsync://141.219.155.230/gentoo-portage
  1283192013:  *** terminating.

It looks like this mirror needs updating.

  rsync://141.219.155.230/gentoo-portage/virtual/perl-File-Spec/perl-File-Spec-3.31.ebuild

still has ~x86. The problem goes away with a new sync (from another mirror).

Bad luck, it is the only mirror in us lagging right now. =/

Ah, ok. And I guess that mirror got updated in the middle of the File-Spec commits. Thanks for looking into it. Might as well close this?

Ok, re-assigning to bug-wranglers since it doesn't really belong to dev-portage.
