Description Massimo Manzato 2010-08-30 17:45:44 UTC
* Messages for package gnome-base/libgnome-keyring-2.30.1:

 * This package will overwrite one or more files that may belong to other
 * packages (see list below). You can use a command such as `portageq
 * owners / <filename>` to identify the installed package that owns a
 * file. If portageq reports that only one package owns a file then do
 * NOT file a bug report. A bug report is only useful if it identifies at
 * least two or more packages that are known to install the same file(s).
 * If a collision occurs and you can not explain where the file came from
 * then you should simply ignore the collision since there is not enough
 * information to determine if a real problem exists. Please do NOT file
 * a bug report at http://bugs.gentoo.org unless you report exactly which
 * two packages install the same file(s). Once again, please do NOT file
 * a bug report unless you have completely understood the above message.
 *
 * Detected file collision(s):
 *
 *      /usr/lib/libgnome-keyring.so.0
 *
 * Searching all installed packages for file collisions...
 *
 * Press Ctrl-C to Stop
 *
 * gnome-base/gnome-keyring-2.30.3
 *      /usr/lib/libgnome-keyring.so.0
 *
 * Package 'gnome-base/libgnome-keyring-2.30.1' NOT merged due to file
 * collisions. If necessary, refer to your elog messages for the whole
 * content of the above message.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge --sync
2. emerge -uDN world

I have also just get this on one x86 box when updating from Gnome 2.28 to 2.30

I would vote for dropping preserve lib from gnome-keyring-2.30 since that library will be pulled by libgnome-keyring-2.30
Comment 2 Gilles Dartiguelongue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-08-31 08:26:42 UTC
indeed, for some reason my eyes saw libgnome-keyring.so.1...

+  31 Aug 2010; Gilles Dartiguelongue <eva@gentoo.org>
+  gnome-keyring-2.30.3.ebuild:
+ Drop preserve_lib per bug #335304. Add missing gtk-doc-am to DEPEND.

Fixed without a bump. Thanks for reporting.

Sorry, i am not a developer and i haven't understand the fix. If i emerge --sync and try to update i still get the same problem. The bug shouldn't be marked as fixed. If someone could give me the workaround i will try it manually.
Thank's a lot.
Comment 5 Gilles Dartiguelongue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-09-02 07:50:17 UTC
The fix is to not make gnome-keyring register the library that now belongs to libgnome-keyring as one belonging to gnome-keyring.

The solution for you is either to rebuild gnome-keyring after syncing then build libgnome-keyring. If that doesn't work, just remove the file by hand and rebuild libgnome-keyring.
