Description Lee Leahu 2003-11-14 17:08:20 UTC
PCMCIA card = Xircom RealPort Ethernet 10/100+Modem 56 (REM56G-100)
Laptop = IBM Thinkpad 600E
pcmcia service is running
network interface configured and running
kernel menu configurator running inside of screen on console

simply remove the card w/o shutting down interface or pcmcia service - kernel panic

I'm seeing this problem as well, on 2.4.22-gentoo-r1, also on a 600E. It seems that removing any PCMCIA card from the slot causes the kernel panic. This did not occur with 2.4.20-r8, perhaps because of the gentoo-sources-2.4.20-sched-interrupt patch?

Long time on this bug with no movement. Is this bug still alive? Newer 2.4 kernels still exhibit this?
Comment 3 Peter Johanson (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-03-07 19:32:49 UTC
Marking WONTFIX. seems the problem went away. If this is still an issue, reopen the bug.
Comment 4 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-03-25 11:25:10 UTC
Moving these so we can remove the "Install CD" component from "Gentoo Linux".

I apologize to everyone for this spam, but according to the bugzilla developers,
this is the only reasonable way to do this.
