Description aditsu 2010-08-27 11:15:27 UTC
I read (e.g. at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yahoo!_Mail#Free_IMAP_and_SMTPs_access ) that Yahoo Mail has IMAP support, but requires a special IMAP command. There are patches for Thunderbird and other programs, to add support for this. The URL I gave provides such a patch for Thunderbird 3.1.2; it would be nice to have this patch available through a special USE flag in portage.

Reproducible: Always

I will look at this when I return in a few days. Please do not land this unless in overlay alone until I have a chance to review.

I was meaning to request the patch be added to the bug, I am not creating a new login on a site just to download a patch.

The patch is included right on that webpage, I assume the download contains the same thing. I'm attaching it anyway for convenience.

Until I am clear as to what the license is on this, I am not gonna add it to the gentoo patchset, This would also need to be reworked to be accepted upsteam. If we get clarity as to who the patch belongs to and how they wish to license it, I can rework it and get it added to gentoo.

Thanks for finding the mozilla bug about this. It seems to have a different patch attached, but that also doesn't have a clear author and license (currently). And I'm not sure what the differences mean.
I'll see if I can find out more, or perhaps just wait and see how things develop upstream.

Apparently the patch is no longer needed, as discussed in the referenced mozilla bug.
