Description Duncan Coutts (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-11-14 11:48:13 UTC
There's not an ebuild for the alsa plugins for gstreamer.
This plugin does exist for the stable 0.6.3, 0.6.4 series.
They come with Mandrake 9.2 and seem to work, although capture seems a bit broken.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge gst-plugins-alsa
Actual Results:
It doesn't exist. :-(

Expected Results:
It should install. :-)

I know some have found the alsa plugins for the 0.6.x series a bit flaky (they
are aparently much better in the new unstable 0.7.x series).

However they work for some useful cases so maybe it'd be appropriate for the
package to exist but just be marked ~x86, not stable on x86, and presumably on
other platforms too. That way those who want to try them out can do so without
giving a false impression of stability to less adventerous users.

it doesnt work... try it without the oss plugin being available.

~arch is not meant for known unstable stuff.

Fair enough. Will wait for stable gstreamer 0.8.x
