Description Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-08-24 02:04:14 UTC
There's now XFCE_PLUGINS USE expand, right now it's these:

"menu" in xfdesktop's ebuild
"trash" in thunar's ebuild
"brightness" in xfce4-powermanager

so XFCE_PLUGINS="menu trash brightness" in /etc/make.conf

but this is all enabled by default in desktop profiles, so should be transparent to users already.

we might add more XFCE_PLUGINS="" to packages to control building optional panel/thunar plugins

Can I get a bit of explanatory text as to what the plugins do? Just so I'm perfectly clear when I go to write something in the guide. Thanks!

Never mind; I just discovered /usr/portage/profiles/desc/xfce_plugins.desc -- I'll see about adding this info to the guide.
Comment 3 nm (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-08-24 07:25:28 UTC
Fixed in CVS.

Since the description for the brightness plugin is for xfce4-power-manager, I went ahead and added a paragraph on it to the "recommended apps" section of the guide. Laptop users rejoice!
