Description Daniel 2010-08-24 00:00:36 UTC
Upon upgrade from media-libs/libmodplug-0.8.7 to media-libs/libmodplug-0.8.8.1 playback of mp3 within Xine and any apps using xine as a backend (Phonon). mplayer still played them just fine. Recompiled media-libs/xine-lib-1.1.18.1 and playback resumed as normal.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Have media-libs/xine-lib-1.1.18.1 installed and working with media-libs/libmodplug-0.8.7
2. Update to media-libs/libmodplug-0.8.8.1
3. Lose mp3 playback in xine

I know this is minor, and I did not determine the exact reason why it happened, but perhaps a dev closer to these ebuilds will know and make any corrects if they need to be made. Or it can be closed and fall into the Gentoo mantra, "when in doubt, recompile"

libmodplug changed SOVERSION from 0.0.0 to 1.0.0, so revdep-rebuild or portage 2.2's preserved libs would have catch that...

there's nothing to fix :)
