Ween you klick on the Kmail icon for the first time after startup, a seperate instance of Kmail is opened instead of  the inline part.
Klicking on a folder in summary view works fine.
After that the button seems to work fine until kontact is closed.

This works fine for me with a recent CVS-compile. Can you try with KDE 3.2RC1?

I will if I find the time to compile it.
As I do not have any real trouble with the beta2 I planned to wait for the release  and not install the release candidats.

This bug is gone in kde 3.2.0
