Please add the output of 'emerge info' as a comment.
Comment 2 Sven Blumenstein (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-11-13 11:46:22 UTC
We cant help you much with more info about your box (output of 'emerge info', type of box etc.). Expecially the amount of RAM and swap is important on those kind of gcc errors.

What CPU, RAM and Swap?
Comment 5 Andrey Kolbasenko 2003-11-16 20:39:17 UTC
CPU - microSPARC II
RAM - 32Mb
Swap - 64Mb
Comment 6 Sven Blumenstein (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-11-24 02:05:00 UTC
Well, thats simply not enough RAM/Swap for glibc. It needs at least 128mb ram and twice the swap to compile fine. I doubt that we can help you much in that case. Using more swap may be worth a try.
Comment 7 Sven Blumenstein (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-12-01 04:17:32 UTC
Some people I asked in #gentoo-sparc verified my guess. You need _at least_ twice the amount of swap and double RAM surely wont hurt.

Closing now as we cant change it from our side.
