I'm running app-emulation/wine-20031016, and I installed IE6 per the instructions at http://appdb.winehq.com/appview.php?appId=25&versionId=1455 labeled "Works (at least for me) with wine 20031016 in Gentoo." It installs and works fine (near as I can tell), but I notice that the time when I have to hit quit to get it to "reboot" (per the doc above), wine looks to be searching for something in the portage temporary build directory. . .I don't know why because I know not a whole lot about wine, but it seems weird to me. $ wine wineboot Wine is finalizing your software installation. are you talking about: /var/tmp/portage/wine-20031016/work/wine-20031016/dlls/ntdll/heap.c ?? thats ok, you got an Unhandled exception (wine: Unhandled exception (thread 0032), starting debugger...) and because wine is compiled with debugging stabs it looks for the source files to see whare the problem is in the code.
Yep, I'm talking about that .c source file. Is there any reason to keep it around in /usr/share or /usr/lib or something like that, so that debugging is easier (or does it not make debugging easier)? thanks!
IMO it only useful for wine developers.
yeah, if you want to keep the src around use FEATURES=keepdir and emerge wine ... we're not going to do it for regular users
err, keepwork
