Description adam morley 2003-11-12 19:03:28 UTC
I'm running app-emulation/wine-20031016, and I installed IE6 per the
instructions at http://appdb.winehq.com/appview.php?appId=25&versionId=1455
labeled "Works (at least for me) with wine 20031016 in Gentoo."

It installs and works fine (near as I can tell), but I notice that the time when
I have to hit quit to get it to "reboot" (per the doc above), wine looks to be
searching for something in the portage temporary build directory. . .I don't
know why because I know not a whole lot about wine, but it seems weird to me.

 $ wine wineboot

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. install app-emulation/wine-20031016
2. start fresh (no ~/.wine/)
3. follow directions at
http://appdb.winehq.com/appview.php?appId=25&versionId=1455 under "Works (at
least for me) with wine 20031016 in Gentoo."

Actual Results:
I get the results in the details section

Expected Results:
I wouldn't expect to see messages about files in /var/tmp/portage with installed
applications.

Comment 1 Alex Veber (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-11-12 22:26:20 UTC
are you talking about:
/var/tmp/portage/wine-20031016/work/wine-20031016/dlls/ntdll/heap.c
??
thats ok, you got an Unhandled exception (wine: Unhandled exception (thread 0032), starting debugger...) and because wine is compiled with debugging stabs it looks for the source files to see whare the problem is in the code.
Comment 2 adam morley 2003-11-12 22:45:41 UTC
Yep, I'm talking about that .c source file. Is there any reason to keep it around in /usr/share or /usr/lib or something like that, so that debugging is easier (or does it not make debugging easier)?

thanks!
Comment 3 Alex Veber (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-11-13 05:42:53 UTC
IMO it only useful for wine developers.
Comment 4 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2003-11-13 07:03:33 UTC
yeah, if you want to keep the src around use FEATURES=keepdir and emerge wine ... we're not going to do it for regular users
Comment 5 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2003-11-13 07:03:46 UTC
err, keepwork
