Steadfast Networks is willing to offer a public community mirror of rsync content for portage, though the site indicates this is not really needed at this time. In spite of this, I figured I would offer to maintain the mirror and see if it's wanted. It's live now, at rsync://mirror.steadfast.net/gentoo-portage The server is on a Dual Opteron 2212 with 8 GB of RAM and 1000 Mbps connection as well as IPv6. It is located in Chicago, IL, US.
