Description Emmanuel Andry 2010-08-14 16:59:28 UTC
Hi,

I've build gnash with vaapi and disabled xv USE flags, but the only accelerator I have is xv, and no vaapi.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Build gnash without xv and with vaapi use flags
2.
3.

Actual Results:
Only xv is available in gnash
No vaapi

Expected Results:
only vaapi available in gnash

# emerge --info gnash

www-plugins/gnash-0.8.7_p20100812 was built with the following:
USE="agg dbus ffmpeg gtk kde (multilib) nls openssl python sdl ssh vaapi (-aqua) -cairo -cygnal -doc -fbcon -gnome -gstreamer (-kdeenablefinal) (-lirc) -mysql -nsplugin -opengl -sdl-sound -test -xv" VIDEO_CARDS="-intel"
Comment 1 Chí-Thanh Christopher Nguyễn gentoo-dev 2010-08-14 17:12:04 UTC
Indeed, this is a problem of the build system which will automagically enable vaapi and xv unless I explicitly disable acceleration. Then for some reason it is not possible to enable vaapi only.

Issue is being discussed with upstream presently.
Comment 2 Chí-Thanh Christopher Nguyễn gentoo-dev 2010-08-14 18:07:52 UTC
There was a small mistake in the ebuild, spotted by billie on IRC. Try to sync again in an hour or so, hopefully it is fixed now.
Comment 3 Emmanuel Andry 2010-08-14 20:57:55 UTC
Seems the problem is still here :

 Building Cygnal media server disabled.
Building the Flash debugger is disabled.
Top level for cross compiling support files is:
        Building extensions: gtk dbus
        Enabling security features: localconnection
        Enabling hardware acceleration features: XVideo
        Enabling statistics collecting for: cache
        GUI toolkits supported: qt4,kde4,gtk,sdl
        Renderers supported: AGG
        Hardware Acceleration: XVideo
        Media handlers: ffmpeg
        Using sdl for sound handling
Using sysv mode for shared memory
        DocBook document processing disabled (default)
Comment 4 Chí-Thanh Christopher Nguyễn gentoo-dev 2010-08-15 10:15:05 UTC
Ok, after further investigation it seems that disabling xv is no longer possible due to upstream changes in configure.ac.
Also the message displayed after configure may be misleading. Check output of eg.
# objdump -p /usr/bin/gtk-gnash | grep -e Xv -e va
to see which acceleration is actually enabled.
Comment 5 Emmanuel Andry 2010-08-15 12:15:29 UTC
So maybe the xv use flag should be dropped ?

The problem here is that vaapi is totally ignored...
Comment 6 Emmanuel Andry 2010-08-15 12:56:53 UTC
Now building the updated gnash :

Hardware Acceleration: VAAPI XVideo

Sounds promising !
Comment 7 Emmanuel Andry 2010-08-15 13:14:40 UTC
I confirm that the last update really enables vaapi :

gnash-0.8.9 properly handles vaapi now. Xv has been dropped.
